Love Week 2020

Love Week 2020 looked a little different due to COVID-19 but Bethany Church was still eager to show God’s love in our communities. Volunteers were encouraged to sign up for as many of the serving projects as they wished. Groups met at different locations during the week.

FIRST FRUITS FARM – 08.15.20

This year our middle and high school students kicked off Love Week! Youth and parents served at First Fruit Farms, a ministry non-profit farm in Freeland, Maryland, where volunteers help harvest food for the hungry.

FREE CAR WASH – 08.16.20

A Bethany tradition is to offer free community car washes. Those driving by the building were able to receive an 100% free car wash as a demonstration of the “free gift of love from God”. This was a kid-friendly activity. Together we washed over 30 cars!

SCHOOL SUPPLY DONATIONS – 08.17.20

The Davis’ LifeGroup partnered with a local organization, Building Families for Children to donate gift cards and money for school supplies to be purchased. Due to COVID-19 the organization decided that this was the safest way for students to receive the school supplies. Building Families for Children is a Christian nonprofit with a mission to “share the love of Christ by helping Maryland’s most vulnerable children thrive in families.” Volunteers also made cards for the families to receive with the school supplies. This was a kid-friendly activity.

CARE PACKAGES FOR NURSES – 08.18.20

Pastor Dennis and his LifeGroup purchased and assembled items for care packages for the Columbia Patient First  nursing unit. Volunteering opportunities were to donate items or assemble the packages. This was a kid-friendly activity.

Volunteering opportunities were also to donate items , assemble the packages. or make cards. Nurses at the University of Maryland Laurel Medical Center received the care packages.  This was a kid-friendly activity.

LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN UP 08.19.20

The Woodford’s Life group lead a team of people to clean up trash in local neighborhoods, including a local middle school. Gloves, masks, and trash bags were provided by the church. This was a kid-friendly activity.
